10th Nov 2014 Organic Vegetable Box

This is Charlotte again. I have stayed with the Mameno`s before, and I am so happy to be back again and experience everyday farm life. But it is not just farming that we do here. Yesterday for example, we had a small event where we could sell some of our vegetables and afterwards at night time, we had a small party. It was so much fun to meet all these nice people and share my experiences here in Japan.

Unfortunately, I will already be leaving Tahara tonight for Tokyo and I am going back to Germany on the 15th. I hope that I will be able to return to this family some time in the future.

In between my two stays at Mameno Farm I spent some time travelling the Kansai Region. I first went to Kyoto and did a lot of sightseeing, I especially liked Kiyomizu-dera and enjoyed meeting many foreign travelers.

After that, I went to Kobe and spent some time with a friend that I met In Tokyo in August. We were both part of an exchange program that focused on the aftereffects of 3/11. We learned a lot about political, cultural and economic aspects that were strongly affected by the disaster.

I met some more participants in Osaka a few days later and it was nice to catch up with them. Osaka became one of my favorite cities, because the people seem really down-to-earth and easy-going. The city has many sights, but my favorite one was the Osaka Sky Building, because I have never seen such interesting architecture and such a high skyscraper. In addition to that the German embassy is inside, which makes it even better.

I only have five days left here in Japan and I am planning on spending them as joyful as possible. I am looking forward to coming back home to my family and friends, but I am also very sad to leave this interesting place behind. I will hopefully find a way to come back here some day.

今日はWWOOFerのシャーロッテさんに書いてもらいました。縁あってまたうちに滞在しており、今晩東京にバスで出発し、15日にはドイツへ帰る予定です。

★今週の循環農法野菜セット
1.葉付き黒田五寸人参 長崎発祥の伝統品種。大きくなりました。甘みが乗ってくるのは12月以降。この時期ならではの味わいをお楽しみください。
2.さつまいも たくさん収穫があったので、増量しています。ベニマサリ、焼き芋向きの品種です。
3.春菊 まだ苦みも少なく食べやすいです。鍋や胡麻和え、味噌汁に。
4.冬瓜(毎週のお客様は小カブ) 沖縄小型冬瓜という品種。煮物やあんかけ、味噌汁、おでんの具など。
5.越津ねぎ 白ネギと青ねぎの中間的な愛知県津島市の伝統品種。緑の葉も美味しい品種です。味がのっています。
6.じゃがいも 6月収穫のを冷蔵庫で保管していました。芽がでやすいです。
7.かぼちゃ 煮物やスープ、炒め物にも美味しいです。
8.赤ピーマン もうほぼ終了。熟したピーマンで甘みが増しています。
9.いんげん 背に筋があるので引いてとってください。
10.里芋 まず下茹でして手で皮を剥いた方がラクかもしれません。
11.小松菜 お浸しやお吸い物、炒め物などに。

Sセットは6品、Mセットは7品、Lセットは11品です。
